Letter of Thanks
Eastridge 5th graders wrote letters of appreciation to veterans at Eastmont Towers. A veteran returned the favor with the above note.
Building a House Begins...
Several fifth graders, along with Mrs. Young and Mr. Reeker are busy architects and builders as they create a Gingerbread House for a fundraiser. Westfield Gateway Mall is preparing for the holiday season. This year, Westfield Gateway is celebrating with the 12 Days of Shopping. The third day of shopping this year, Sunday, November 29 is focused on celebrating scrumptious holiday food. As a part of this celebration Westfield Gateway will host a gingerbread house auction, where gingerbread houses created by the Lincoln Elementary Schools would be prominently displayed in the center. The houses would be auctioned with all proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. From sketches to basic construction and decoration, Eastridge's Gingerbread House promises to be a show stopper! Students Tour Sheldon Art Gallery
Students in grades 4 & 5 traveled to Sheldon Art Gallery on Thursday, November 5 for the annual field trip to the museum; students were chaperoned by their classroom teachers. To support the art curriculum, tours are scheduled in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades; Core Ability #6 "Live with Art" is directly supported through the tours. Students spent time learning about the building structure and viewing the many wonderful exhibits on display. Mr. Reeker encourages students to take families to Sheldon for an arts experience anytime. Sheldon Art Gallery is a free museum and open to the public. To learn more about Sheldon, visit: http://www.sheldonartgallery.org/.
T-shirt Designs Chosen
Eastridge students submitted about 20 designs in the PTO sponsored T-Shirt Design contest. With a small committee, led by Shelley Klosterboer, winners were chosen. First grader Hunter W. (design on right below) and third grader Will H. (design on left below) had their designs chosen to be printed on t-shirts. Each boy will receive a free t-shirt for their winning design. Order details will be coming soon! Congratulations Hunter and Will! Thank you to all students who entered the contest as well as to Shelley and her committee for the work done to make the contest happen.
